Let the Banners Fly! || Grande Prairie area Photographer

Drum roll! Announcing the re-launch of my website, Diane Schuller Photography! There are a few minor issues that I need to work out and a couple additions but, for the most part, I am pleased with the final result. I’m delighted to have a professional space where I can proudly display my work. I also have a question to ask: my improved site has capability to play MP3 tunes but I’m not sure that everyone would be keen on music (though it can easily be turned off by the viewer). Let me know your general feeling about music on websites.
Since I plan on doing more of a push in obtaining photo shoots this year, I will be using my blog to announce specials and talk more about photography-related topics. I’ll still chat and share tidbits of life up here but the biz will be more evident in this space.
Next task: I need to make some improvements to my blog. I’m so technically-challenged (which is why it took so long to re-do my website) so fortunately for me, Jennifer has offered to guide me through the blog changes. It was thanks to a discussion at the Shutter Sisters Flickr group that I hooked up with her (if you’re looking for a lifestyle photographer in the Greater Toronto, Ontario area — check her out!). What a great group of helpful and sharing women.
I invite you to visit my re-launched website! I would love to know what you think about it.
PS: Fair warning — an official press release will be posted here later today.

Wow! Seeing your photos full screen size is wonderful! Congratulations on your re-launch!

Nice new site. I thought it will be a photoblog, but i see is a flash based site. In this case, the music should stai, but choose it carefully, and let the default volume to a lower scale, it won;t scare the visitors who have their speakers turned on.

oh how amazing our site is clear and crisp full of vivid life !! Congratulations!
I always have music on when I am visiting blogs so it is a bit of a hassle …but also I have discovered some new artists from other peoples sites…so I could go either way on that

Diane, congrats. This is a beautiful and engaging site. You are extremely talented.
I loved going through everything, it was easy to navigate, and interesting. I have looked at lots of photography sites lately, and sometimes they get a little run of the mill. Yours is not.
I am so looking forward to seeing your business grow.

I have to say I HATE music on websites. Even if it is just on a moment before I get it stopped. I have music playing and web music is intrusive.

Love the image of the balloons to launch your new site. I was going to email you privately about the music, but when I saw what Michael wrote I laughed, so here goes. As a musician I love music anywhere, providing it’s not an annoying tune. However, as a web designer I was going to tell you that popular opinion is like Michael’s opinion. Right now, the trend is to not have music. I keep my speakers turned all the way down unless I want to here something because I don’t like the clicking from page to page. On the other hand, it’s your site so you should have it the way you want it regardless of popular opinion. Your site is one of exploration and I always enjoy those. Make sure you view it in all browsers. That can really be a shocker. Have fun with!

Diane, I, too, love seeing your photos full-screen. I loved the dog laying in the snow, so pensive. And I am of the majority opinion here: I don’t like music on websites. I find it annoying-sometimes I have my own music on but not through my computer speakers which don’t sound that great, sometimes I even have the TV on, sometimes I am on my computer when someone is asleep in the next room–I just don’t care for it.
Congratulations!

Congratulations, Diane! Looks fantastic. It is a little slow loading for me and I have dsl, but it is probably due to the large image size, which is fantastic. Re: music. I hate, hate, hate, music on a website and if music comes on, the first thing I do is look for the mute button. Oh, and one other thing…Raise your prices!! Seriously!

Your new photography web site looks great!! And your photos are fabulous
Seeing as you asked… I don’t like music on a web site. It’s usually not music that I like, and it’s kind of distracting. Especially when I’m surfing the Net and watching TV at the same time!! So my vote is for no music.
Congrats on your new site!!

I am so thrilled for you, such a fabulous way to feature your photography. As for the music, I’m kind of on the fence about that. I keep my sound turned off, so most of the time I don’t know if someone has music playing. But, sometimes, I can tell because it will slow up the page load. I’d do whatever your heart wants and your instinct tells you to do. Obviously, you have great instincts as well as skills as evidenced by your beautiful photographs.

the site looks great! did you do it yourself ?
I do love the full size pics, but wonder how do you have them protected? Is there a watermark inbedded in the image?
I personally hate music, not in general since I am married to a musican , but hate it on websites and blogs.

WONDERFUL! It’s a beautiful website!!! I will got back when I have more time to look at all of it, but from what I perused just now, it’s so impressive.
I would love to learn more about how you began your business. I love how you call yourself a lifestyle photographer. I would love to do something like that.
I don’t generally like music on websites, and I keep my volume off on my computer for that very reason. I am usually on my computer when my son is napping, so getting some unexpected music is not always welcome!
Congratulations, again. Great work.
